Set in the Peruvian Andes in 1955, BLANCA is an English-language dramatic thriller written by Carlos Graña, inspired by real people and historical events. It is about the night Peru’s First Lady (an aging trophy wife of European descent) was forced to drive Blanca (her teen maid in labor, from a local farm village) down a dangerous road to the hospital, during a violent military coup.
The fictionalized, edge-of-your-seat adventure thrusts two contrasting women who hate one another into a partnership for their own survival. As they battle extreme forces—the army, the weather, a death-defying mountain road, and a speeding car neither knows how to drive—the pair must overcome personal trauma, social prejudices, and bad blood for even a small chance at reaching the end of the road.
